Fourth Annual Taste of Itasca May 8th
Taste of Itasca, the fourth annual fundraiser for Kinship Mentoring is set for the evening of Tuesday, May 8th. Tickets are $45 per person.
The event includes tastings of wine and beer and food prepared by 17 local restaurants and caterers. There are also door prizes, raffles and a live auction following the food tasting.
As you would expect, the menu is heavy on meat offerings with several different versions of barbecue from sandwiches to ribs. There are more "exotic" meat offerings of both porketta and "turketta". And an even more traditional roast beef and gravy.
If you eat chicken and fish you will find a number of interesting offerings. "Thai Shrimp & Mango Spring Rolls" and "Chicken Osso Bucco with Port Wine Gastrique" from the host kitchen at Timberlake Lodge. If you are vegetarian the choices are very limited with a handful of salads and desserts that only apparently meat-free offerings.
